Workplace COVID-19 vaccine mandates working?

Opting in to COVID-19 vaccine mandates at your company? Strategy working to curb new infections at workplace?

COVID-19 cases in the United States have dropped by 25% over the last two weeks (Axios).

Only weeks ago, news emerged that President Biden’s plans for large businesses (>100 employees) to have employees vaccinated for COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing. President Biden held meetings with top business leaders. Those who spoke and met with President Biden at The White House include CEOs and presidents of The Walt Disney Company, Microsoft, Walgreens, Columbia Sportswear Company, Kasier Permanente, Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream, DuPont, and many more.

Recently, more and more companies are moving towards employee vaccination mandates with COVID-19. For example, United Airlines started on its plan to have workers who complied with vaccine mandates. Unions are also getting along. AT&T is requiring employees in Communications Workers of America union to comply with vaccine mandates by Feb 2022. Recent in basketball news, National Basketball Association players who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 will have to comply with a long list of restrictions to take part in the upcoming season, though no mandate given to players. On other hand, NBA referees have been given a COVID-19 vaccine mandate to be inoculated to work games, per agreement between NBA and National Basketball Referees Association

As more and more companies follow suit, President Biden’s policies announced in past weeks, which required nearly all federal workers and federal contractors to get COVID-19 vaccinations with some exception to continue to be tested weekly if unvaccinated, seem to gain more and more support. November 22nd is the current deadline to get most of the federal employees inoculated.
